Hurm. I've been feeling disturbingly social lately. Like, I'd rather be with people than just about anything else.
This gets in the way of my productivity.
This is no good! No good at all!

It works well if I make rules to myself "ok, no social unless you get X Y and Z done first", but it seems like whenever I do that whatever social date gets cancelled, and that's rather no good. "Reward is the key. They must be rewarded!" (Day of the Dead anyone?)

In other news, A3 agonist appears to potentiate NDMA toxicity. That was a bit surprising. Mechanism, anyone?

Nitrosodimethylamine? .... Wow, those poor lab animals.

This reminds me, I need to order some parts tonight while I have the chance.

Yup, that's the stuff! Eruh, yeah, there are lots of experimental lab mice, rats, and monkeys (thankfully no cats, I'm not sure if I could deal with that, I only work with rats and mice myself). There are a lot of very strict ethical codes for dealing with animals, actually. Anyway! We don't give that to live animals, rather, we give it to cells from the cortex of rat fetus brains! (eh heh...) NDMA apparently models glutamate toxicity, that is, allows cells to depolarize.

Whether or not A3 agonist actually does potentiate NDMA toxicity I'm still not sure, only the assay where you lyse cells and look at the amount of ATP (more and healthier cells means more ATP) says so. I've finished two other assays the results of which were all over (kinda nonsencially so, I think something about the plates was just bad). Three more assays to do, then we'll probably have to repeat.
